Great News!
July 31- Monday. Great news! There is some improvement in Ed's vision in the operated eye. This morning he could see, with his left eye only, and glasses on, the five nectarines which I had put on the window ledge to ripen. He was standing about 4 feet away. He could count them, see the colour and identify them. Yesterday, his left eye would have only seen a blur. We are very happy about this and we cried, a little. Ed's left eye is still swollen. This morning at 8 am, I convinced him to take 2 Ibuprofen to reduce the slight discomfort he was having in his eye. We suspect that the anti inflammatory effect of the Ibuprofen might have allowed his vision to clear because he could see from the left eye about 2 hours after taking them.
His eye looks like there is a tiny round piece of saran wrap on it - this is where the corneal patch is with the tiny stitches all around. I'm going to try and learn how to post a picture of it. The surgeon emailed the picture of Ed's eye which he took at our office visit last Wednesday.
Then, all of you can see it too.
Ed is still on hourly eyedrops plus 2 other eyedrops four times a day and 1 eyedrop twice a day. AND the super anti fungal oral pill which makes him tired and causes the 'white screen' to emerge for an hour after he takes the pill. The 'white screen' is only there when his eyes are closed.
